Cows and Flowers

This painting is a controlled study of a 1970s color palette, especially noticeable in my trademark daisy flowers. I love the cows that visit my pastures in the summer, and this painting depicts them quietly grazing and day dreaming. This painting offers a different view of the mountains from where I live. This time, the view settles on Jumbo Mountain – a softer hill – in the background. Notice the subtle, metallic sheen in the flowers and hay, and the slightly textured sky that I created using a gesso build.

The painting is acrylic on a wooden gesso board with a 1.5″ cradle. It is 18” x 24”, finished on the sides, wired in the back and ready to hang. Please view all the photos to see its detail. There’s a nice texture on its surface from the many layers of paint on the board’s surface. I’ve included photos of it in progress and in a few sample rooms.
