Not only does the Fox Theatre promote a sense of fantasy, but it is a work of fantasy and fancy. Much of the artwork within (wooden timbers, frescoes, carpets, pottery, etc.) is all plaster work created specifically for the Fox Theatre. I found this juxtaposition of the ordinary with the elegant to be interesting.
So, eh, I was shamed because this photo friday for the theme purple is a black and white photo. Hmm, what were they looking at I wonder? My photo for this theme (see previous entry) may not be the most purple-y photo, but black and white, it’s not. Hot pink, fuschia, reflected violet, eggplant background, maybe. Anyhow, I guess any linkage is good linkage. So, ...
What I really like about this photo is the composition: the shapes, the reflection from the lily leaves, etc. which I think gives it a little bit of a painterly feel. I also think the edges of the petals show a reflected purple from the water or perhaps, that is an eggplant color(?) Navy blue? Hopefully, not just another hokey water lily shot.
