ok, I’m not really stuck on a name for this one yet and I have no clue why I painted but, well, here is what I ended up with. This was an old canvas that I tried a mixed media experiment on. I had painted the lower half with shell fragments and sand and when I started to move it to its drying spot, I hit the corner of it and sent it all of it askew with little chance of recovery. The resulting pattern was kind of neat, but I was a little discouraged as I had fought alot with the shells during the application process. The painting concept was going to be a more abstract beach scene. Anyhow, I kept the canvas, thinking that at some point I would know what to do with it. I’m not sure that I really knew what to do with it, but I did finally use it.

SO, the lower half of this painting has shell fragments and sand under the paper. this is the largest paper based painting I have done to date, so let me know what you think.

a new painting of the desert. mixed media, paper, oil stick, shells, sand, on canvas. 36 x 36.
